What’s
going on guys….
Pretty
much been living the dream all summer. I got an internship at a place in
Amsterdam, NY, called Power and Composite Technologies. It is a global company,
with plants in the US, Hungary, and China, that specializes in power generation
plant components, but we also do things for the medical field, the oil
industry, just to name a few. Being one of only a handful of companies in the
world certified to make the parts we build, its actually pretty interesting
stuff. We build the majority of the nonmetallic components in the massive
generators that power cities all over the world. We also work with GE in the
R&D department and I’ve been able to work on some cool projects with that.
It’s a good mix of sitting behind a desk doing engineering type stuff, but I’m
also out on the shop floor a lot overseeing projects, fixing problems, running
tests, I have even designed a few new machines and machine parts. All in all I
enjoy it, can’t complain.
Outside
of work, which pretty much takes up the whole day, I’ve been rehabbing my
shoulder and recently started training again. Just tough when you go from DB
benching with 110lb dumbbells to like 15 pounders….. But that’s rehab for ya I guess. Just looking
forward to getting back to 100% and crushing workouts again.
When I’m
not working or training, which is basically never, I’ve been able to get out
and hike a few times, getting my motorcycle license this weekend, and maybe
coming back to school with a bike if I find the right one. Then I just hang out
with the girlfriend and try to catch up on sleep every once in a while. Every day
is just another day in paradise for me.
See you
guys in a few weeks
