Sup
guys!
I hope everyone’s summer is going great and you’re all staying in shape! I know it can be tough, but like Colin said earlier you can only get out what you put in. I’m having a sweet time up in Rochester, NY at the moment. Luckily I wasn’t here during the cold, haha. I’m lucky enough to have our very own diver Rob Evans in the area as well. So we have met up a few times to hang out. Right now I have an internship with Xerox in their research polymer coating labs. It’s a lot of fun, but a lot of work. Although I’m not able to get into the water every day because of work, I still find ways to stay in shape. I live with other interns in community college dorm rooms and we usually go outside to play soccer or travel to the nearest rock climbing wall. I highly recommend playing pick-up games with friends of any sport because it is a great way to have fun and to keep some sort of shape. In order to motivate me to keep swimming, I joined a local USA Swim club for the summer. I personally know that it isn’t easy for to go into a pool and swim a practice by myself without a coach or someone else to keep me in line. Even if it costs some more money, I know it will keep me in the best shape possible and I can easily keep track of my progress by participating in summer Long Course meets. My advice to you guys during the summer is find what will keep you motivated to stay in shape. If you are one of those swimmers who can swim around 6000 yards by themselves in an empty pool, props to you. I have a feeling we don’t have many of those, haha. If you need outside motivation, like I do, join a club where you have other swimmers and coaches to keep you motivated. Or if you just want to have fun, gather up friends and play a game of wiffleball, basketball, Frisbee, football, or anything else your heart desires. You have a whole summer to think of what you want to accomplish next season and the more you do now, the easier it will be when the season starts. Enjoy your summer!!

Hello Everyone,
For those of you who may not know, this is my 6th month of unstructured swim practice (that is not apart of a swim club or swimming with RPI). I am currently over halfway done with my co-op at United Technologies in Windsor Locks, CT and have been going through cycles of swimming and not swimming, usually on a weekly rotation.
Trust me, I understand how hard it can be to find the motivation to get into a pool everyday if you don't have a group to do it with. I am here to help any and all who may be having difficulty getting the motivation to get themselves into a pool. Remember what you get out of this sport is what you put into it, and I plan on putting a ton of effort into this season... Literally a ton... Yes, I mean 2000 pounds of effort into this swim season. For those of you who may not know (shout-out to the Freshman) I took the second semester of my junior year off to go on a co-op, which prevented me from going to states. This season I intend to make up for not swimming in that meet.
Myself and the other captains will be continuously updating the shared Google drive with some practices for anyone who may want one (click the link below or on the links page above to request access). I also hope that everyone is enjoying their summers wherever you may be. As always, feel free to reach out through email, text, a call, the blog, or any other form of communication. Remember don't tell people your dreams, show them. I am really looking forward to this season and I am proud to call all of you my teammates.

My post was going to be just “I work out” but apparently
that wasn't long enough. After a few weeks of
visiting high school friends, I’ve settled into my routine for the summer
working at Parsons Brinckerhoff as an Overhead Contact Systems Intern. I’d
explain what that is but I don’t really know except that I work with trains and
they gave me colored pencils. In addition to work, I’ve been lifting at least
three times a week and just recently decided to get back into the pool for my
first practice since February. Lucky me, my coach decided it was a good time
for a timed 1650. I had a solid race going with a girl 6 years younger than me
for about a 500 before one of us took off and eventually lapped the other one
(I refuse to reveal who lapped who). But more importantly I’m enjoying training
and doing “fun” challenges to push myself without having to worry about resting
for a meet or drowning during practice. If anyone wants to partake in those
challenges let me know (they are mostly lift/circuit related) but either way
have fun this summer and come back stronger.

Today at Athletic Department Bootcamp Sachi decided it would be a good idea to "run" The APPROACH. Before you get to excited, I did not complete the APPROACH 10 times like you crazy kids. MAJOR, MAJOR PROPS by the way! Our workout was 11 minutes of The APPROACH, 50 bicycles, 50 toe touch abds, 30 push ups and 25 squat jumps, 11 minutes of The APPROACH, 50 bicycles, 20 push-ups. I was struggling after 2 minutes of stairs. Chris Herman counted 141 stairs. Let's hope I can make it up to my office tomorrow. I workout!

Hey Everyone!! Hope that you all have been enjoying the
first few weeks of summer and have settled into your summer routine, whatever
that may be. I am working in Troy for the summer and living in my apartment
with Ellen and Adam occasionally. David Connor and Sam will also be living in
the apartment next to us, yay neighbors! It has been an adjustment being on
campus without everyone, but I am excited that quite a few swimmers will be
around to work out and hang out with me. I FINALLY got to take my sling off
last week and am super excited to have my right arm back!! A good amount of my
time this summer is going to be spent in the training room doing rehabilitation,
but luckily as you know the trainers are extremely helpful. Having the entire
training room to myself most days is pretty great, but I definitely miss seeing
everyone around. This summer my goal is to strengthen my shoulder and be back
in the water by the time the season starts. If you are ever in Troy over the
summer, definitely let us know. Hope everyone has a wonderful summer, can’t
wait to hear about each one of your adventures!!!
